There are generally considered to be 7 continents. But these continents are not defined by exact science, but rather by convenient labels that have been adopted over time. For example, Europe and Asia are physically one geographic unit (called Eurasia). But they are generally considered separate continents because of cultural and historical reasons. There are 7 continents: Australia, Europe, Antarctica, South America, North America, Europe, and Australia.Some of the continents have very vague boundaries between them, so we apply aribtrary boundaries to them.South America is divided from North America by the Panama Canal, despite it being an artificial canal. The Arctic and Southern Oceans are often merged in with the first three oceans, and that is why a lot of people don"t remember them, especially the Southern Ocean.
The Southern Ocean is situated in the southern portion of the globe, in the region of Antarctica. It moves around the Antarctic continent and blends into the Indian, Pacific, and Arctic Oceans in its northern extremities.
